Karl E. Black, JD, DVM
Dr. Black is a native Dallisite and graduated from Greenhill School in 1979. Although veterinary medicine was his earliest aspiration, his professional life took other paths for several years. Upon graduation from Southwestern University in 1983, he became a real estate appraiser and broker in Dallas. In 1986, Dr. Black enrolled in law school and earned his law degree from Santa Clara University in California in 1988. Even as he began practicing law, Dr. Black knew that he had to pursue his childhood wish to become a veterinarian.
Dr. Black attended the College of Veterinary Medicine at Texas A&M and graduated in 1996. He began practicing veterinary medicine at Park Cities Animal Hospital soon after. Since that time, he has enjoyed the satisfaction and rewards that come from doing what he loves most - caring for companion animals and their people. |
David Hille, DVM
Dr. Hille developed an early interest in veterinary medicine while helping out on his uncle's dairy farm in Connecticut. He grew up in a military family, moving 12 times before finishing high school, but he always looked forward to holidays and school breaks when he would return to the dairy farm.
Dr. Hille selected Oklahoma State University for his veterinary education and graduated in 1985. At that time he immediately accepted a position at Park Cities Animal Hospital and became co-owner in 1998. Dr. Hille enjoys the pursuit of continuing education and has always sought to bring the most advanced options for the early detection of disease to his patients. His peers recognized him in 2000, when he was elected as President of the Texas Academy of Veterinary Practice, an organization devoted to continuing education for veterinarians. Dr. Hille is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, American Animal Hospital Association, Texas Veterinary Medical Association and Dallas County Veterinary Medical Association. |

Douglas Tucker, DVM
Dr. Tucker was born in New Port Beach, CA and moved to Arlington, TX at the age of six. He wanted to be a zookeeper, but when he found out there were doctors for animals, he wanted to be one of those, a veterinarian. His ambition led him to Texas A&M, one of the top veterinary schools in the country. After 3 years of undergraduate work as a biomedical science major he entered veterinary school.
Dr. Tucker graduated cum laude with a degree in veterinary medicine from Texas A&M in 1997. He interned for one year in small animal medicine and surgery at Kansas State University and spent three years at VCA Beltline East Animal Hospital where he honed his skills treating a variety of challenging emergency and critical care cases. In 2001 Dr. Tucker moved to VCA Lakewood Animal Hospital where he focused on preventative care, internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Doug is excited to be practicing at Park Cities Animal Hospital. |
William "Bill" S. Cortiaus, DVM
Dr. Cortiaus has worked in small animal veterinary medicine since 1993. He worked in emergent animal care from 1994 to 2000. His favorite aspects of working at Park Cities Animal Hospital are the great ethics, the caring nature of the staff towards the patients, and the overall excellence of the practice.
Dr. Cortiaus' favorite aspects of working with animals are being able to help patients who cannot help themselves, relieving discomfort, and being able to work with both animals and people simultaneously. Dr. Cortiaus' most memorable experience with animals is treating a stray dog which had been badly burned. Relieving her pain and helping her placement was very rewarding for him. |
Amanda Florsheim, DVM
